About Me

I integrate my clinical skills, knowledge, and personal experiences to create social media content, courses, and free resources to make mental health more accessible and relatable.

I am Dr. Jess. A licensed clinical psychologist in South Carolina specializing in pediatric psychology. Anyone who knows me will say I am driven and goal-orientated, but the letters behind my name alone probably could have told you that. After I graduated with my PhD I attained a fellowship back in a city I called home for many years. Once I completed my fellowship I landed my dream job working as a pediatric psychologist. I have a husband, a daughter, a dog, a house that I own. I have supportive family, friends, and co-workers. I workout, I eat healthy; from the outside it appears I have it all together, but on the inside I struggled (and still do) with feelings of self-doubt, anxiety, and falling prey to my inner critic.

I dove into a lot of personal development and self-growth in 2019 when a significant life event made me recognize the need to work on myself and my values. In early 2020 I hired a business coach with the plan of starting a coaching business to help women, like myself, who spend their lives helping others without giving that same care to themselves. However, I soon realized that coaching did not align with my values and goals and once again I was doing what I thought I "should" do, rather than what truly made me happy.

Like many people during the pandemic, I joined TikTok and quickly realized that this music app for kids is actually a great platform to make mental health content more accessible. I started creating mental health content both there and on Instagram, created a few courses and free resources, launched my podcast, and realized that this was what I loved - educating people about mental health through relatable and digestible content.

I am not really sure where this journey is taking me, but I am happy you are joining along for the ride.
